Also known as the Brushfoot family of butterflies, this is the biggest group of butterflies, with several sub-families. The top side and undersides are frequently different. The front legs of most brushfoot butterflies are very small, giving them the appearance of having four legs. These tiny front legs may be mostly sensory, helping the butterflies “taste” potential nectar sources.

The Satyrs and Nymphs

The most obvious satyr we have is the Little Wood Satyr. This little butterfly is most often found at the edges of the forests.  They bask with open wings, and each part of the wing has a pair of eyespots encircled in yellow.
