Bald Eagle Nesting Update: She’s Incubating!

For a decade now, we’ve had a pair of Bald Eagles nest on Dewees Island, and they seem to stick to a pretty close timeline. They are usually mating by Thanksgiving, and at least one bird is down in the nest by December 25th.  Like clockwork this month, they were settled into that nest on the afternoon of the 25th.

We live in a pretty convenient spot for this: the eagles are right across the impoundment for the nest, but their lookout/makeout pole is literally right off our porch.  For a decade, I’ve been lucky enough to eat breakfast with an eagle just out of reach.  And this is where I took the footage of the pair struggling with a fish in an earlier post.
