Roseate Spoonbill

These weird birds are expanding their range northward as they adapt to warmer areas.  In the entire years 20 years Audubon kept records, he had only recorded Roseate Spoonbills in the state 3 times.  We had 13 winter over in 2018-2019, but this winter the birds went further south and are only now returning in bigger numbers.  Every day it seems there are more, with a current total of 7.  By the end of summer, we might see 75 at a time.
